Event Details
Join us at Bob Hope Theater on Thursday, July 9th for Canciones de mi Madre: A Romantic Evening in Downtown Stockton. Organized by her two sons, this event is meant to honor and celebrate the life of Rosana Rodriguez. At the beginning of 2026, Rosana was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer. The event will also be raising money for her family to help deal with the financial difficulties caused by a life lost much too soon. We will be celebrating Rosana with performances by Grupo Bella of Los Angeles and Mariachi Tradición del Valle of Stockton, filling the night with her favorite Mexican Folk songs, Mariachi music, and the sounds she has enjoyed throughout her life.
Grupo Bella is directed by Vanessa Ramirez, a Grammy Award-winning vocalist and Grammy Award-nominated songwriter. She created this ensemble to bring to the stage the beauty, culture, and vibrance of Mexico. These musicians have traveled Mexico’s many regions bringing back their knowledge of the many traditions and sounds to audiences in the United States. Earlier this year, two members of Grupo Bella had the amazing opportunity of performing alongside Bad Bunny at the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Grupo Bella brings you music from all over Mexico, Latin America, and some American classics for a unique musical journey that you will want to experience again, and again.
Mariachi Tradición del Valle is a local mariachi directed by Luis “Tito” Talamantes. This ensemble was created by and for mariachi educators in the area, many of whom began their education with Tito as their teacher. This ensemble as well as the many mariachi programs throughout the district are a direct result of the efforts of Talamantes. Music education —particularly with mariachi music— has given opportunities to many local artists and has created a space for students and their creativity to flourish. This mariachi represents musicians who learned and developed their careers through music education and wish to share their knowledge and passion for music with the next generations.
Canciones de mi Madre: A Romantic Evening in Downtown Stockton will be a night of celebration, music, singing, dancing, and love for your friends, your families, your mother wherever she may be, and for Rosana.
