Stockton, Calif. – The Stockton Heat, proud AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, today announced the team’s schedule for the 2017-18 AHL regular season.

The 68-game schedule features 34 home dates at Stockton Arena, beginning with Opening Night on Friday, October 6 against the Bakersfield Condors at 7:00 p.m. and concluding in April with a regular season finale against the San Jose Barracuda on Saturday, April 14 at 6:00 p.m.

“We're excited to have our schedule in place a month earlier than in the past," Heat CEO Brian Petrovek said. "And we're looking forward with high expectations to presenting a season of memories for our fans, players and staff at Stockton Arena, beginning in just 87 days!”

The team will play 56 of its 68 games within the Pacific Division, but this year’s intra-division schedule includes the last two Calder Cup Champions, with this past season’s Champions, the Grand Rapids Griffins, coming to town on Saturday, October 14 at 6:00 p.m. and the Cleveland Monsters, the 2016 Calder Cup Champions, coming to the Stockton Arena on Sunday, March 11 at 5:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m.

Featuring 34 home dates at Stockton Arena, the Heat begin their season with a five-game homestand. Game times this coming season have been adjusted as follows to better meet the needs of our fans: all Wednesday and Friday home games will start at 7:00 p.m., Saturday games will move to a 6:00 p.m. start time and Sunday games will begin at 5:00 p.m.

The Heat will play home games on Wednesdays (6 games), Fridays (11 games), Saturdays (13 games) and Sundays (4 games), with 28 of the 34 games taking place on the weekend.  In both previous seasons the Heat played 24 of its home games on the weekends.

For the first time since 2014-15, Stockton Arena will have a hockey game on New Year’s Eve.  The celebration, which happens to be the first Sunday game on the schedule, will feature an indoor fireworks display, which hasn’t been done since the 2011-12 season.
