January 10, 2017 – Bob Hope Theatre

(Stockton, CA) – On Tuesday, January 10, 2017, the City of Stockton will hold a Special City Council Meeting for the formal swearing-in ceremony of Mayor Michael D. Tubbs, Councilmember Dan Wright (District 2), Councilmember Susan Lenz (District 4), and Councilmember Jesús Andrade (District 6).  This public meeting will be held at the Bob Hope Theatre, 242 E. Main Street, beginning at 5:30p.  All members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Doors will open and seating will begin at 4:45p.

Meeting Agenda: The ceremonial oath of office for Mayor Tubbs and Councilmembers Wright, Lenz and Andrade will be conducted at this Special Council Meeting.  This meeting is being held at the Bob Hope Theatre to accommodate all members of the community who would like to attend.  A reception will be held in the Theatre lobby immediately following the ceremony and light refreshments will be served.

Parking & Theatre Access: Free parking is available in the parking garage at the corner of Hunter and Market Streets, directly behind the Bob Hope Theatre for members of the public who are attending the ceremony; enter on Hunter Street, between Market and Washington Streets.  Valet parking service will be available from the front of the Bob Hope Theatre at a cost of $20 per vehicle. Main Street directly in front of the Theatre is limited to drop-off and valet service on the south side of the street and television media vehicle parking on the north side of the street.  Overflow parking for television media is available on the north side of Market Street, directly behind the Theatre.

Viewing the Meeting: Due to the change in venue, this meeting will not be streamed

on the City’s website while in-progress or broadcast live on the City’s Government Access Channel.  It will be recorded, then re-broadcast on Comcast Channel 97 and streamed on the City’s website at, beginning Wednesday, January 11, 2017.

Media Instructions: There will be opportunity to interview the Mayor and Councilmembers before the start of the public meeting and ceremony.  Members of the media are asked to contact Community Relations Officer Connie Cochran by January 9, 2017, to ensure there are sufficient audio connections and space for television cameras.  Inside the Theatre space will be dedicated for television cameras so as not to obstruct the view of friends, family and members of the community attending this public meeting.  Members of the media should plan to arrive early to provide sufficient time to make adjustments for low-lighting in the Theatre and to make sound connections.
